Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce the success of its partnership with iChoosr, independent group-buying scheme experts, following the launch of its ‘Solar Together’ programme.
This group-buying scheme has brought Fareham households together to get high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage at the most competitive price possible, to provide cleaner, greener and more sustainable power.
The scheme had 639 registrations and 127 acceptances with each household achieving an average discount of 36% when compared to buying solar panels independently. Across Hampshire, the acceptance rate was 19% versus a target of 15% and Fareham had an acceptance rate of more than 21%.
Executive Member for Planning and Development, Cllr Simon Martin commented: “Fareham Borough Council teamed up with iChoosr to deliver this scheme because reducing our environmental impact is a key consideration for both the Council and for many Fareham residents.
“The reduction in numbers from registration to acceptance is to be expected for a variety of factors including cost, properties not being suitable or safe for solar panels, planning permissions and personal preferences. However, the fact that there is clearly an interest in greener power is really encouraging.
“Residents who go ahead with the scheme can also rest assured that all suppliers and manufacturers are thoroughly vetted and must supply evidence that there is no exploitation of their workforce at any stage of the manufacturing process.”
