Miles Brown, CEO of South East law firm Coffin Mew has been included in the Lawyer’s Hot 100 list. The prestigious list recognises the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar.
This recognition is the latest in a whole host of other awards for the firm including ‘star performer’ for growth in The Lawyer UK 200, finalists in The Lawyer’s Law Firm of the Year, finalists in The Law Society Excellence Awards for the past two years, and ranked as one of the best places to work in the UK in Best Companies 2020.
The Hot 100 list recognises that Miles and his leadership team are committed to their vision of bringing the best people and innovation together, to deliver great results for every client – further supported by a new client strategy, new employee proposition and a refreshed sector strategy. The firm has an enviable client list and has attracted high quality talent with strategic new partners, lawyers and members of staff joining the growing firm. This year the firm has invested in a new IT system to better support clients, and are investing in the Thames Valley region, by creating a new regional hub in high-end offices in Newbury.
The Lawyer commented: “The past couple of years have been transformative for South and Thames Valley firm Coffin Mew. CEO Miles Brown is confident that the firm is on the right track to achieve its £20m turnover goal by the end of this year, following a 36 per cent rise in revenue since its merger with Newbury firm Charles Lucas & Marshall in 2017.
Last year, Coffin Mew introduced agile working for its staff, eight weeks of paid leave for new fathers and same sex partners, and enhanced its maternity pay. These are all part of the newly launched employer value propositions programme, spearheaded by Brown, focusing on what its staff can offer the firm and what it, in turn, can offer back, through four pillars of engagement, productivity, excellence and wellbeing.
Brown will look to improve the firm’s service delivery too. One of this year’s objectives will be to introduce a new IT system, TickIT, focused on document and case management systems. Restless in his commitment to improve the firm every year, there is another potential merger on the horizon for Coffin Mew while Brown will also guide the firm through an office move in Newbury in 2020.”
Miles Brown, CEO of Coffin Mew, added: “I believe passionately in what we are creating at Coffin Mew- something radically different for clients and our people, focused on delivering modern, accessible, top quality legal services.
“I am proud and very humbled to have been recognised in the leadership category of The Lawyer Hot 100 2020 list. Achievement is a real team effort, so many thanks to my very supportive senior team at Coffin Mew. Our strategy for growth continues and we are looking forward to the next exciting chapter at the firm.”
