Trethowans is delighted to announce the appointment of Alice Balcombe as a Partner in its highly regarded Family team, based in Winchester.
Alice brings extensive expertise in all aspects of family law, with a particular focus on the financial elements of divorce. She has a proven track record in negotiating complex and high-value financial settlements, often involving substantial assets, intricate financial structures, business interests and international considerations. Her experience includes acting for high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, particularly those in the financial services sector.
In addition to her financial expertise, Alice advises on a wide range of private children matters. She supports separated parents in resolving arrangements for the care of their children and provides guidance on parental responsibility and specific issue applications. Alice has acted in complex and emotive Children Act proceedings, including relocation cases and disputes involving allegations of domestic abuse.
Alice is also highly experienced in drafting and advising on prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, as well as cohabitation agreements, helping clients protect their financial interests during relationships.
Throughout her career, Alice has been involved in several high-profile High Court cases, including disputes concerning contested trusts within divorce proceedings. She actively promotes non-court dispute resolution to achieve constructive outcomes but is equally adept at handling contentious matters with pragmatism and sensitivity.
Commenting on her appointment, Alice said: “I am thrilled to join Trethowans and work alongside such a talented team. I’m committed to supporting clients through what can be some of the most challenging times in their lives, ensuring they receive clear, practical advice tailored to their individual circumstances.”
Laura Bell, Partner & Head of Family Winchester, added: “Alice’s depth of experience and reputation for excellence in family law make her a fantastic addition to our team. Her expertise in complex financial and children matters will further strengthen our offering to clients across the region. Alice joins us at a time of significant growth for our Winchester office, as we continue to expand our team and enhance the services we provide to our clients.”
