26 April 2019 Maggies Southampton – Dealing with cancer in the Workplace
Cancer charity Maggie’s which will be based at Southampton General Hospital is delighted to join Business South as a Champion
Every Maggie’s centre follows the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Maggie lived with advanced cancer for two years and was determined that she should not “lose the joy of living in the fear of dying”.
In order to live more positively with cancer, Maggie believed people needed information, stress-reducing strategies, psychological support and the opportunity to meet other people in similar circumstances in a relaxed and beautiful setting. All Maggie’s centres are individually designed by leading architects to feel like a home and all have a big kitchen table at their heart.
There is an ever increasing need to provide expert support and guidance to employers and employees affected by cancer. There were an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK in 2015, predicted to rise to 4 million by 2030.
Delivered by a Maggie’s cancer support specialist we can provide, through a workshop or webinar, the tools and insight to help you support people with cancer in the workplace. Our workshops will cover:
– The emotional, physical and psychological needs of employees with cancer
– How to approach situations with knowledge, empathy and understanding by providing insights and management strategies
– Creating the right framework to support and manage employees with cancer
