If you are an employer in the Central South looking to create fewer than 30 job placements for young people who are currently unemployed Business South can help you get a Kickstart Scheme Grant. Business South will gather information from employers on the job placements they’d like to offer and submits these on behalf of a group of employers to DWP.
As part of the government’s Plan for Jobs, a new £2 billion Kickstart Scheme has been launched to create hundreds of thousands of new, fully subsidised jobs for young people across the country.
The 6 month placements are open to those aged 16-24 who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long term unemployment. They will be available across a range of different sectors in England, Scotland and Wales. The first placements are likely to be available from mid November.
There will also be extra funding to support young people to build their experience and help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job.
Employers will receive funding for 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum auto-enrolment pension contributions. There is also £1500 per job placement available for setup costs, support and training.
Funding is available following a successful application process. Direct applications to DWP must be for a minimum of 30 job placements. If you are unable to offer this many job placements Business South can apply on behalf of a group of employers to reach the minimum number.
Announcing the news of Business South supporting the Kick Start Scheme Group CEO Leigh-Sara Timberlake said ‘Business South is delighted to be involved in this important initiative helping employers access funded job placements that in turn create opportunities for young people significantly impacted by the Covid-19 emergency. It’s in the Business South DNA to promote our People, Place and Prosperity and our business-led action group Workforce South works tirelessly to collaborate with major regional employers to drive positive change.’
