Our compere for the event with be David Allard. David is currently a Reporter, Presenter and Producer for BBC South Today, the regional TV news programme. Prior to training in broadcast journalism at Highbury College in Portsmouth, David ran his own copywriting and audio production business. As a producer for Cameo Productions, he worked with film companies including Sony, Universal and Buena Vista on UK radio campaigns.
Mark Round, Client Technical Leader - IBM
Mark is a senior IBM Technical Consultant with over 30 years’ experience of designing, building and delivering innovative technology-based solutions. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and is an Open Group Distinguished IT Specialist.
Mark currently acts as the technical relationship lead for a number of IBM UK’s Telco, Media and Entertainment clients having previously held the same role within IBM’s Financial Services business.
Mark is actively involved in the development of technical people inside IBM as well as outside (through being a BCS assessor). Mark wrote part of, and teaches an Innovation Masterclass taught to IBM aspiring Technical Leaders as well as teaching Early Career professions aspects of IT Architecture and technology.
Mark is passionate is in envisioning (and delivering) how we can apply technology solutions to solve real problems for the world we all share. Whether that is automating time consuming but necessary tasks, applying new innovative techniques to problems or finding ways to access and use hidden value in information and stuff we already have – so long as new and innovative then he’s interested.
Aldred Drummond, Chief Executive - Fawley Waterside
Fawley Waterside Limited was founded and is managed by Aldred Drummond, alongside well established investors. In 2015 the company purchased the Fawley Power Station site in Hampshire from RWE npower with the ambition to create something transformational for the Southern Waterside.
Aldred is a Director of Real Estate at Long Harbour and has overseen investment in 23 towns and cities in the UK with a particular focus on building homes for rent.
Aldred is the owner of the neighbouring Cadland Estate which once owned the land where the Power Station was built. He is passionate about the long-term prosperity of the local area and conceiving a new settlement that respects the natural beauty and importance of New Forest.
Jan Edrich, Chief Executive & Principal - Eastleigh College
Jan is the Chief Executive and Principal of Eastleigh College. The College has an income of circa £28m and around 20,000 learners. It is known regionally for its specialist technical provision and 80% of its income is from adult education and training and apprenticeships.
After 20 years working internationally in telecoms manufacturing as a production and logistics specialist, Jan joined the local FE College as a part time lecturer. During her time in FE, she has held several senior management team posts at different colleges and also worked for the Learning and Skills Council.
Jan has served on various Boards including two Awarding Bodies, local charitable trusts and an Academy and is currently the Chair of Governors of the local Pupil Referral Unit and a Board member of the Women’s Leadership Network.
Julie Hall, Deputy Vice Chancellor - Solent University
Julie Hall is Professor of Higher Education and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Solent University Southampton. She was previously at University of Roehampton London where she was Deputy Provost Academic Development.
Julie is a sociologist and has written extensively about improving teaching in universities and working collaboratively with students including: Co-creating a Social Justice and Education Curriculum with Undergraduate Students and Integrating Gender Equality into Management Education
