Griffon Hoverwork welcome HRH The Duke of Kent

Griffon Hoverwork was honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent who was accompanied by the HM’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire.

Following Griffon Hoverwork’s achievements over the years as a successful UK manufacturing company who successfully export their products worldwide and continue to maintain and grow their industrial skills, HRH The Duke of Kent expressed his desire to visit the Southampton based company.

His Royal Highness was taken on a tour of the factory where he met with staff and walked through the manufacturing area to observe production processes. Griffon demonstrated their newly launched 995ED hybrid hovercraft showcasing the innovative technology behind the new diesel electric hovercraft, a technology demonstrator of UK Engineering.

The new 995ED has a reconfigurable payload of 995Kg or 8 passenger seats. With its new generation electric motors, inflatable side decks and bonded aluminium manufacturing processes, it is significantly quieter, cheaper to operate, easier to transport and simpler to maintain than any other hovercraft in its payload class.

Adrian Went, Managing Director commented, ‘A visit from the Duke of Kent is rather special to Griffon Hovework.  His interests bring together much of what the business stands for including; rescue, he is President of RNLI, export, in his Vice Presidency of the predecessor to the Department for International Trade and innovation and engineering in his roles at the Royal Institution and the Royal Academy of Engineering.  His insight has been fascinating’
