The marathon broadcast had just two presenters – Danny Humby and Oliver Johnson – for the whole 24 hours, with guest speakers, including students, alumni and a phone in from Solent University Chancellor and Dragons’ Den star, Theo Paphitis.
“We’ve raised over £1,500 and the total is going up,” says Danny. “After we finished, we were both very tired – but very proud of what we had managed to do. I think we got each other through, especially between 2am and 7am – those hours are a bit of a blur but we made it.
There were ups and downs,” agrees Oli. “But we always felt positive due to the amount of people keeping us motivated and helping us out. Members of Radio Sonar and friends provided food drink and a lot of moral support throughout the 24-hour period.”
Danny adds: “My favourite part of the show was having a bunch of people that really matter to me in the room for the final hour. We had a crazy amount of listeners for the final stretch and it helped us pull through.”
