PAYMENT UPDATE
If you have already applied for these grants, we will be making payments as quickly as possible. We expect to start to make payments to eligible businesses by Friday 17 April or earlier if possible. Like most other local authorities, we have a national software provider and we have been working with them to make the necessary changes to our IT systems before payments can be made
Small Business Grant Fund
Under the Small Business Grant Fund all businesses in England receiving small business rates relief with a rateable value of less than £15,000 will be eligible for a grant of £10,000. If you do not currently receive small business rates relief and think you may be eligible, please check the criteria on our website.
Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grant Fund
Under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grant Fund businesses receiving the expanded retail discount (which covers retail, hospitality and leisure) with a rateable value of less than £51,000 will be eligible for the following cash grants per property:
- Eligible businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to £15,000 will receive a grant of £10,000, in line with the eligibility criteria.
- Eligible businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive a grant of £25,000, in line with the eligibility criteria.

Market traders offering deliveries
Several of the City Centre Market traders are also now offering a delivery service. Please follow the City Centre Market Facebook page for details.
The City Centre Market is currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 8am-4pm located in their usual place on Commercial Road. Food stalls provide a combination of fresh produce (e.g. meat, eggs, fruit and vegetables) and hot food to takeaway.
Customers must follow social distancing rules when queuing and to use contactless payments where possible, although cash payments are still accepted. Stalls are well spaced out with lines drawn for customers to stand behind. Anti-bacterial wipes are provided and all goods are handled by the traders using gloves.
