Winchester City Council will be hosting its second Carbon Neutrality Open Forum (CNOF) event to discuss the energy crisis and climate change at 6.30pm on Wednesday 22nd June.
Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency, Cllr Kelsie Learney, will host a panel of speakers to address fuel poverty and our carbon footprints, whilst offering sustainable solutions that will also help cut costs.
This will be the second CNOF event since the launch in 2021. These forums provide a space to address the climate emergency and offer realistic actions that will get us closer to meeting our targets to become a carbon neutral local authority by 2024, and to extend this to the whole Winchester district by 2030.
Attending and speaking at the event will be the National Energy Foundation; Stuart Mills on the Winchester Area SuperHomes scheme; Katherine Shadwell from AgilityEco; Dr Charlotte Johnson from the Centre for Sustainable Energy.
Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency, Cllr Kelsie Learney, said:
“As a Council we are making big changes in our offices and across the district to reduce our carbon footprint and our energy costs. We want to help residents and businesses do the same, making it possible to meet our ambitious carbon neutrality goals.
“Our Carbon Neutrality Open Forum is a chance for all of us to come together to address the energy and climate crisis with experts offering their insights. It also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding these issues. I’m thrilled to be taking part in this event as it will be my first since taking on my new role as Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency.”
The Carbon Neutrality Open Forum will be held throughout the year with each event focusing on a different topic.
