Residents across Basingstoke and Deane who are looking for a new job role following the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to get free expert help and advice at a virtual job fair this week.
The virtual event, which has been organised by Job Centre Plus, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hart District Council and Rushmoor Borough Council, will showcase a range of vacancies from local employers.
Aimed at those facing redundancy following the COVID-19 pandemic or anyone looking for a change of career, the event will take place between 11am and 12noon on Twitter this Friday (3rd July).
Employers who would like to promote current or upcoming vacancies are being encouraged to take part by emailing vacancies in advance to partnerships@basingstoke.gov.uk or using the hashtag #NHantsJobs. Follow the event on the Job Centre’s Twitter account @JCPinHants-IOW.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Borough Development and Improvement Cllr Rebecca Bean said: “We know this is a difficult time for many people in our borough who may be facing redundancy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and we are keen to provide as much support as possible.
“That is why we have partnered with our local Job Centre as well as two of our neighbouring councils to organise this virtual event to bring together a wide pool of employers to highlight the current job opportunities available in the local area.
“The event will also provide information on how you can access expert help and support in searching and applying for jobs or starting your own business.”
