Kingsmead Day Nursery in Winchester is launching a unique new flexible childcare solution to parents, to adapt and react to the challenges created by COVID-19.
Traditionally, nurseries have only offered half and full day’s childcare to parents which can be challenging and poor value for money for parents who don’t work in 9am-5pm employment.
Flexicare has been created to support parents trying to get back to work by offering childcare from as little as two hours and changeable hours to suit shift workers.
Helen Gaskell, owner of Kingsmead Day Nursery, which has been operating for over 30 years said:
“Flexibility is at the heart of our new offering and it feels like the right time to introduce some new options which suit parents’ different circumstances. We had to do something different to support our parents better in these challenging times so, turning childcare on its head and creating Flexicare’s new hourly rate, for example, is perfect for anyone wanting to attend an interview, meeting or get their shopping done. Providing the option to book various days and hours and have the ability to change them to fit parents’ work patterns, we hope will be a welcome change for parents.
“We hope other nurseries around the UK will follow our lead as we know parents are desperate to get their children back in a safe, secure, nurturing and now more flexible environment.”
In addition to Flexicare, the nursery is also offering spaces to children who are due to start Year R/Reception in September and whose time at nursery may have ended prematurely, to make their transition to school smoother.
The nursery, situated on Gordon Road in the city centre, is also introducing new health and safety measures to ensure parents can be confident their child/children are being cared for in the safest environment possible. These measures include increased frequency in deep cleans, personal protective equipment (PPE) available for employees, additional hand wash stations and staggered start times.
