Caitlin Denny has joined the Destination Southampton team as Marketing Administrator through the Kick start Scheme with Business South.
“I have chosen to take the Kick start opportunity to work with Destination Southampton because it fits with my education and further studies. I am thrilled to join the team and am keen to learn as much as I can from the experts in preparation for my future!” said Caitlin.
She is also studying for a Photography HNC at City College and will do this alongside her work with the team at Destination Southampton.
The Kick start Scheme provides funding to create new jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.
Brought up in Southampton, Caitlin is passionate about our city and cannot wait to get her teeth into the role.
Shirley Wynne-Jones, MD of Destination Southampton Conference Bureau, said: “Post pandemic employment opportunities for further education leavers is going to be vital to the skills gap in some industries and the event industry is no exception.
“An industry still in turmoil, we will bounce back better than ever this summer and we’ll need ambitious, eager team members that want to learn and grow with us.
“Kick start has given us a great chance to develop our future workforce.”
Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:
- 100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
