The refurbishment project which was completed in December has transformed one of the consultation rooms at St Mary’s Community Room in Portsmouth into a useful and welcoming environment which can be used by young people in the area.
The team from Drew Smith, part of Vistry Partnerships, with support from partners Portsmouth Flooring, Portsmouth Carpentry, AT Jones Group, George Brough and Sunbelt Rentals worked together to refurbish the consultation room. The project saw the team clear the room, replace all flooring, doors and electrical fittings, refurbish joinery and skirting as well as redecorating and supplying new furniture.
The centre based in Portsmouth is owned by Drew Smith’s partner VIVID and managed by the charity, South East Hampshire Community Outlook who provide community rooms for hire which can be used for training, meetings, and social functions.
Dan Corbett, Project Manager for Drew Smith Kingston Prison site said; “We were delighted to support the team at the centre to refurbish one of the last rooms to be completed. It’s important to us that we can give back to the local community where it was great to be part of the team to create a space that can be used by young people in this area.”
Derek Streek, Head of Neighbourhoods at VIVID said; “We’re really pleased with the work that’s been done to refurbish the centre for the community. We were very impressed with how the local trades in the area pulled together to make this a useable space in such a short space of time.”
