Matrix Standard Accreditation
We are delighted to share with you that following a thorough three-day assessment, we have retained our Matrix status, which is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and guidance. The review focused on two new teams who have been operating for under a year. Our Leaner Hub only opened at the end of last summer while our Brand, Engagement and Learner Recruitment team was formed in February this year. Both received strong positive feedback from the Matrix assessor. The full story can be found here.
Learner Awards
Our annual Learner Awards was a special event where we celebrated the multiple successes of our 16-18, SEND, Adult and Apprentice learners. Our awards focus on our College values of ambition, professionalism, resilience and respect.
A total of 48 learners took home awards on this happy occasion, and it was wonderful to see everyone’s ambition and excellence on display as staff, learners and parents came together to recognise learner achievements this year. A full list of winners can be found here.
Apprenticeship Opportunities
Our apprenticeship applications are running at a five year high. Applications have always been a mix of individuals who already have a job secured, and from those who are still seeking an employment opportunity. As we currently have a number of apprentice applicants who are seeking an employer in order to secure an apprenticeship and given the recruitment pressures facing employers across the country, this is an exciting opportunity to potentially add talent to your workforce. Please do get in touch with Rhys Jay (Account Manager) if you would like any further information on this, or if you feel this would be of benefit to anyone in your wider network please do feel free to share this information.
Sustainability Champions
With the UK recording the highest temperatures on record in recent days the impact of climate change has been clearly demonstrated. Climate change actions are a responsibility for us all as individuals and also at an organisational level. In addition to the education and training opportunities we have developed we have also been working closely with IEMA as their first Further Education partner in the UK to extend our offer to individuals and employers.
Part of this work has been to develop a role description and training plan for ‘Sustainability Champions’ who at an organisation level may be best described as being akin to First Aiders, Mental Health First Aiders, Dignity at Work Advisors – essentially a role that complements organisational priorities but one that sits alongside a staff member’s substantive post. The ‘Sustainability Champion’ role description has been designed in partnership with some of our employer partners and employer representative groups that we are members of. We will be launching our ‘Sustainability Champion’ offer in September before our first networking breakfast and hope that this will be of interest to you.
Networking Breakfasts
We were pleased to welcome a number of our partners on campus for a special community breakfast last week, as a thank you for their continued support. These events also provide valuable networking opportunities and we are pleased to share that a third breakfast has been scheduled for Tuesday 11th October from 08:00 – 10:00 so please get in touch if you are interested in attending.
