An exciting opportunity has arisen to introduce learners to the huge range of career pathways in the NHS.
Eastleigh College is pleased to collaborate with Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT) and University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust (UHS) to offer a brand-new career development program to learners across Hampshire. This 12-week course is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to begin a career in the NHS, with a particular emphasis on communication and customer service skills. Delivery will consist of a combination of classroom-based activities and remote learning, with up to 70 hours of workplace training allowing for extensive experience in the NHS environment. There will also be an academic focus on mathematics, English and ICT skills.
Karl Billington, Head of Delivery for Foundation and Traineeships at Eastleigh College, said: “We are excited to offer an opportunity to “Grow-Better” as part of this work experience and skills development collaboration between Eastleigh College, UHS and HHFT. As part of the 12-week programme individuals will get an opportunity to experience life and work in a number of NHS administrative roles within local foundation trusts, while developing transferable skills and enhancing current maths and English skills if required.”
Jude Davison, Associate Director of Apprenticeships at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, said: “We take a great interest in the future NHS workforce and this program is a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover the various career options available. We’re not just doctors and nurses, there are an incredible 350 + career opportunities available in the NHS. We are very excited about this opportunity.”
Anita Esser, Head of Education at University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust, said: “This is an amazing offer for young people to come into a large teaching hospital and experience the wide range of opportunities available to them.
