BECG, the UK’s largest specialist communications consultancy for the built environment, with offices based in Hedge End is celebrating after winning ‘Best Agency for Public Affairs’ at the prestigious PRWeek UK Corporate, City & Public Affairs Awards which showcase the best in class across corporate communications, financial PR and public affairs.
Following BECG Group being ranked by PRWeek as number one in Public Affairs since 2021, this award win further recognises the Group as being a trusted advisor to clients, helping to protect reputation through communications which create understanding, acceptance and support. The award judges’ acknowledged that across the past four years the agency has consistently scored higher than average for client satisfaction, and in 2021 it had the highest overall satisfaction ratings for a UK-based agency, according to insights firm Q&R. Other highlights recognised included the benefits package offered to the Group’s 155employees, which includes everything from mental health support to career development and flexible working policies. Its commitment to diversity has seen the proportion of staff from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds rise from 12.5 per cent in 2021 to 18 per cent in 2022.

- ‘Best use of social media and/or influencers in a campaign’ – working with its client National Grid, the shortlisted campaign sought to raise awareness of the need for new energy infrastructure in East Anglia and to mobilise green energy advocates. ‘Best crisis comms’ – for a confidential project with a top-five national housebuilder.
- ‘Best pro-active lobbying campaign on an issue or case – for the ‘Service with Respect’ campaign with The Institute of Customer Service (ICS), which highlighted abuse suffered by customer-facing staff. The campaign led to the Home Office amending its Sentencing Bill to ensure that assaults on workers performing public services are always aggravated in sentencing terms.
