Academics from the University of Southampton will be outlining to businesses what sustainability reporting is, how to do it – and why – at VentureFest South next month.
Sustainability reporting gives businesses a competitive advantage. It involves disclosing and analysing a business’ environmental, social and economic performance.
Ven Tauringana, Professor of Accounting and Sustainability at Southampton Business School, is an international leader on sustainability reporting, having worked with businesses in the UK and overseas on the topic.
Professor Tauringana, who will lead the session, said: “Sustainability reporting is hugely valuable to businesses and to the planet. It can be a first step towards a company’s net zero ambitions, it can attract investment and new employees and customers, and it can lead to reduced costs.”
Professor Tauringana will be joined at VentureFest South by University of Southampton colleagues Dr Lakshi Doorgakunt, Senior Teaching Fellow in Accounting, and Richard Cartwright, Principal Enterprise Fellow at Southampton Business School, and Dr Cerys Baigent, Director of Quality and Regulatory Assurance at Alpha Laboratories.
VentureFest South is an annual festival of innovation that brings together entrepreneurs, SMEs and investors from across the region. It will take place on Thursday 16 November 2023 at The Ageas Bowl, West End, Southampton (with the above session running from 12.15pm to 1pm).
