Eastleigh College Supported Learning Students have had a memorable week of adventure, camaraderie and discovery upon the Isle of Wight.
In a special team building initiative, Eastleigh College have partnered with the National Citizen Service social development program to provide Supported Learning students with an unforgettable experience. Spread over five days, this Isle of Wight retreat incorporated an exciting range of activities and challenges, such as climbing, archery and buggy building, while also allowing for quieter moments of contemplation through reflection sessions and campfire gatherings.
Sharon Baxter, Head of Supported Learning at Eastleigh College, commented: “This week has been a huge success and we would like to thank the National Citizen Service for all their hard work in planning the itinerary for our students. Learners developed in confidence over the course of the week, developed stronger relationships with each other and became visibly better at communicating and supporting one another too.”
Joel is a student who participated in the Isle of Wight trip. He commented: “It was hard leaving family for this time, but my Mum encouraged me to go and I’m very glad I did. Everyone here has treated us so well, as if we are family members. The trip is a great and unique opportunity for everyone.”
Mason is also a student who took part in the trip. He said: “I enjoyed Leap of Faith, archery, climbing, dodgeball and problem solving the most. Dinner was very nice, it was a very good trip and I am definitely going to come again.”
Following the success of this week, a fixture for another week’s trip has already been arranged for November 20th.
