Southampton Forward, an independent charitable trust, unveils its brand new website. The website is set to be a platform to communicate their work and cultivate social, cultural, and economic benefits for the city. Southampton Forward is working across culture, festivals, events, and tourism to develop a programme of culture that places people and communities front and centre.
Southampton Forward’s aim is to enhance the cultural fabric of Southampton, and the website will serve as a central hub of information about all of the charity’s work and indicate how people can get involved in future projects. The website will also house a directory for the creative industries, providing an easily signposted place for creative industry professionals to promote their business or work. It has been designed with a user-friendly search function to make it easy for people who are looking to contract or commission work. This will be a free service to all and is set to go live on the website early in the new year.
Bav Dhanda, the Commercial and Marketing Director at Southampton Forward, expressed the team’s excitement about the new website. She said: “We want to make sure there is a user-friendly platform for keeping the community informed about our latest initiatives and activities.”
From promoting street art to celebrating the role of corner shops, Southampton Forward proudly collaborates with organisations and communities throughout the city, and that work now has a dedicated home on the new website.
Bav continued: “Southampton Forward is involved in developing diverse projects across the city. These initiatives celebrate Southampton’s rich heritage that is often unseen or unrecognised, such as Southampton’s history and deep connection with electronic music, from new and emerging talent to world renowned artists.
Southampton Forward is committed to a partnership approach, with a focus spanning the whole city and not just the city centre. From intimate home-based projects to large-scale, co-created events that engage the entire city and beyond, Southampton Forward is dedicated to making culture and community a shared experience for everyone.
Bav said: “We have some really exciting projects coming up, and the website will be the first place to go to catch up on all of our latest news.”
A critical aspect of Southampton Forward’s mission is the formation of a strong coalition comprising community organisations, local partners, and stakeholders, all with a shared goal of driving sustainable social, economic, and cultural change in Southampton.
Southampton Forward is supported by founding partners, including Arts Council England, the University of Southampton, and Southampton City Council. These partnerships have been instrumental in the organisation’s efforts to make incredible cultural and community work come to life.
