Southampton City Council foster carers provide stable homes for children who can no longer live with their birth families at this time and have come into the care of the Local Authority.
Foster carers offer a supportive, caring and secure foundation, enabling children and young people to move into the future with confidence. There are many types of fostering available to suit the skills and circumstances of different carers.
In order to foster you will need:
- to have a spare room
- be aged 21 or over
- to have childcare experience (professionally or personally)
- to provide a safe and warm home environment
- time and flexibility (You don’t need to give up work to foster, as long as you can be available when required for school runs, meetings and training, evening activities etc)
