How has coronavirus changed things for you and your family?
Coronavirus has had a big impact on everyone. As we look to the future, we’d like to know more about the way you and your family have been affected and how it has changed things for you. This information will help us as we work together with other organisations, residents and communities to prevent the virus from spreading, keep Portsmouth safe, and help the city look to a better, brighter future. The easiest way to have your say is to take part online. The survey will be open to hear your views until 7th August.
Support businesses in your community by going local
As lockdown restrictions ease, we hope you will choose to spend your money in local shops, markets and eateries and really make a difference to the recovery of the local economy. Just remember to follow the latest government advice and any guidance businesses have to keep everyone safe. Please be patient and kind as businesses are operating differently and to do your bit to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. Cyclists can now repair on the go
It’s been brilliant to see cycling in the city on the increase during lockdown. We want to make it as easy as possible for Portsmouth’s cyclists to keep riding. Cyclists, wheelchair and pram users can now make repairs on the go with our nine new repair stations. The stations are each equipped with a set of tools, instructions and an air pump, making it much easier to carry out small repairs and general maintenance while travelling. Users are reminded to wash their hands before and after use or use hand sanitiser to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Pools, gyms and outdoor sports to reopen for summer
Cricket fans and swimmers are some of those celebrating the latest relaxation in lockdown rules. Good news for fitness fans but we all still need to remember to keep safe to protect ourselves and others from coronavirus. Grassroots sport will be able to return from the weekend, beginning with cricket. Indoor gyms, swimming pools and sports facilities can reopen from 25 July. Nail bars and tattooists will also be able to open their doors to customers, with safety measures in place.
Keep an eye on our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for more information on the reopening of Portsmouth City Council’s sports and leisure facilities.
