The Maritime and Transport South Action Group held its first meeting of 2026 to review the progress of the Maritime and Transport Careers Programme (MTCP), look ahead to the year ahead, and welcome Paul Moon and Ben Sutherland from the logistics training provider 2 Start Ltd.
The meeting opened by highlighting the success of Careers Day 2025, which engaged over 400 students and educators and helped shift perceptions of maritime and transport careers for the next generation. Careers Day 2026 confirmed for 19th November at the Ocean Cruise Terminal. Outreach will continue through school visits, career fairs, and virtual events.
Paul and Ben shared updates on 2 Start Ltd’s apprenticeship training and collaborations with the group. With flexible programmes across logistics, transport, warehouse, and administration roles, the initiative will help strengthen and grow skills in the maritime and transport sector.
The group also considered, discussed, and agreed to hold a future meeting focused on AI applications in the maritime and transport industry. Members will have the opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from Solent Growth Partnership, helping the sector prepare for technological change.
