Following on from a successful year as the Business South Charity of the year, we are delighted to announce that Heartbeat will be our chosen charity for 2025.
We’ve been so impressed with the brilliant work that Mark Ind and the team are doing that we have decided to extend our support to a second year.
Business South Group CEO, Leigh-Sara Timberlake, said: “Heartbeat is an amazing local charity making such a difference for patients and their families affected by heart disease. “Mark is a fabulous ambassador for Heartbeat and has harnessed the power of making meaningful connections at our events as well as supporting our Action Groups.”
Responding to the news of the continuing relationship with Business South, Mark Ind said: “We are so delighted that Business South has chosen to partner with Heartbeat again for another year. We value greatly the support that we receive and the opportunities that Business South gives us to connect and collaborate with so many fantastic businesses and organisations.
“We care passionately about our role, across many communities in the South, in raising the awareness of the importance of cardiac care for all generations, in partnership with the amazing team in the Wessex Cardiac Unit based at the University Hospital Southampton.”
In 2023/24, 412 families were looked after at Heartbeat House and last month, the charity launched their healthy heart checks for business.
Healthy Heart checks take 10-15 minutes per person and can be crucial in helping detect possible heart problems, as well as supporting businesses in promoting healthy lifestyles.
Costs are highly competitive and can either be met wholly by employers, or shared with employees. Tests include a cholesterol/HDL check, blood pressure check, glucose test, BMI and atrial fibrillation test as well as a health talk. Also included is advice on smoking, exercise, nutrition and diet, and alcohol consumption.
