HSDC students have been receiving good news about their higher education applications, with many more expected to come over the next few months.
This year students across all three campuses have applied to a diverse group of universities and courses with twelve receiving offers from Oxford and Cambridge, in subject areas ranging from Experimental Psychology to Mathematics, History and Geography. Congratulations to James Brand, Mathematics (Peterhouse, Cambridge), Sebastian Cawte, Computer Science (Churchill, Cambridge), Jessica Knight, Experimental Psychology (St Hilda’s, Oxford), Katherine Lai, History and Politics (St Anne’s, Oxford), Aidan Luker, French and Beginners Portuguese (Christ Church, Oxford), Emily Morgan, Geography (St Anne’s, Oxford), Toby Morris, PPE (St Hilda’s, Oxford), Zoe Offen, History and English (Pembroke, Oxford), Holly Plater, History and Spanish (Merton, Oxford), Beth Scott, Law (St Edmund Hall, Oxford), Alex Teeuw, Geography (Kings, Oxford) and Benjamin Tweedle, Mathematics (Churchill, Cambridge).
Alongside these, 5 students who applied for Medicine and Veterinary Science courses have received offers – special congratulations to Morgan Rixon, a level 3 Biomedical Science student who has been offered a place to study Veterinary Medicine at Harper & Keele Veterinary School. Fifty-nine of the 64 students who applied for Psychology courses have received offers with the other five still waiting to hear and, with a large number still awaiting decisions, 19 of the 53 adult access, BTEC and A Level students who applied for nursing courses have received offers. To date, 239 students have received offers from Russell Group and other top ranked universities, with more news undoubtedly to come from traditionally late-deciding institutions.
In addition, a number of students are exploring pathways beyond the university sector, in particular degree apprenticeships and higher apprenticeships that offer increasingly dynamic opportunities.
We wish luck to those who haven’t heard yet and look forward to following the success of all our students as their results come through.
