Fareham Borough Council has appointed decarbonisation specialist Beyond Procurement to help reduce the carbon footprint of businesses in Fareham. The new scheme launched on Tuesday 1 November. Beyond Procurement will provide a 12-month support programme to 27 Fareham-based businesses, providing expert advice to help them achieve their sustainability goals and, in most cases, reduce their energy costs.
For many organisations, reducing carbon emissions can be a complex and challenging task. Beyond Procurement works with organisations to create a bespoke carbon reduction plan that works for them, making the process as easy and efficient as possible and, in many cases, actually reducing energy costs.
Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: ‘I am delighted that we are in a position to provide this support to local businesses. This is a good opportunity for businesses to understand how they can reduce their carbon footprint, and potentially reduce their costs, for free.’
Andrew Childers, CEO of Beyond Procurement said: ‘The passionate team at Beyond Procurement is very pleased to be selected to support Fareham businesses on reducing their carbon footprints whilst reducing their costs. Many businesses still believe that the journey to Net Zero will come at a cost. In the coming months we look forward to helping businesses improve operations, increase company value and image, all while reducing energy consumption, waste produced and increasing profits.’
This business decarbonisation project has received £43,362 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
