Eastleigh College has launched a new range of courses called ‘Bounce Back Technical and Professional Qualifications’ to support 18 and 19-year-olds find work in targeted high-demand sectors like engineering, construction, and social care.
These courses are free to applicants as part of the measures announced on 8th July in the Chancellor’s ‘Plan for Jobs’ boost for the post-Covid future. The College is now taking applications for the new courses.
Starting in September, for one year only, the new courses are level 2 and 3 qualifications in specific subjects and sectors. They have been introduced by the government as ‘high value courses’ so that learners with prior qualifications can develop existing skills to a higher level or gain new skills in the form of additional qualifications. They are designed to enable a more productive economy and encourage young people to remain engaged with education, employment and training through uncertain times.
The new Bounce Back Technical and Professional qualifications courses on offer at Eastleigh College can be found at eastleigh.ac.uk.
Paul Stannard, the College’s Vice Principal for Quality said:
“I am delighted that we have managed to respond quickly and set up the new courses with high quality programmes ready to start in the new academic year.
“When we announced our ambitious and collaborative ‘Covid-19 bounce back’ pledge on 3 July, we said we guaranteed to offer a ‘place for all eligible full time 16-18 students whether school, or college leaver whose ambition is to pursue a professional or technical career through one of our courses.’ We are now extending this pledge to guarantee a place for all eligible full time 18 and 19 year olds looking to upskill and develop career changing skills in the specified sectors from September 2020.”
