Following an extensive recruitment process, Business South Group is pleased to announce the appointment of six Non-Executive Directors to its Board.
The new recruits join an already experienced Board and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from a diverse range of sectors and specialisms across the region. They also share a deep passion for the Central South and what the region has to offer as a great place for business and to live, work, study and invest in.
The new Non-Executive Directors appointed to the Business South Group Board are:
Lisa Lavis, Managing Director – Glow
Lisa is the Managing Director at Glow, an award-winning design agency based in Hampshire. In this role she implements and oversees client brand & business strategies, including brand design, video, podcasting, content creation, creating brand purpose and consultancy. She has over 25 years’ experience of developing powerful creative campaigns and strategies for businesses in a variety of industries. In October 2019, Lisa was awarded Woman Business Owner of the year, at the Women in Business awards and is a passionate believer in nurturing talent and enhancing business performance through wellbeing, purpose, emotional agility and humour. Lisa is also the Chair of Business South’s Lifestyle and Culture Action Group.
Tim Hancock, Chairman – Terence O`Rourke
Tim is a chartered town planner and Executive Chairman of leading planning and design practice Terence O’Rourke Ltd since April 2020 before which he was the practice’s Managing Director since 2003. Tim has nearly 40 years of experience securing planning permissions for a diverse range of projects including the award-winning McLaren Campus in Woking, Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios and Harry Potter Studio Tour, new campus for the Universities of Surrey, plus many more. He has also played a central role in the planning for new communities in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hampshire and Kent. Tim also Chairs Business South’s Regenerate South Action Group and is a keen advocate for promoting the Central South.
Gary Whittle, Commercial Director – Meachers Global Logistics
Gary has worked for over 35 years in the logistics industry, in both operational and commercial roles. His unparalleled experience has ranged from managing full logistics functions of a petrochemical plant, operating a fleet of petroleum vehicles nationwide to overseeing several general warehouse facilities across the county. In 2000 Gary was invited to join Meachers Logistics to take responsibility for its growth through sales and marketing. His success led him, in 2010, to include in his role overseeing the operations side of the warehouse and transport divisions and his promotion in 2010 to be our Commercial Director. Gary is also co-chair of Business South’s Maritime & Transport Action Group.
Zoe Huggins, Education Consultant
Zoe has a strong track record of empowering people in the public, private and third sectors to raise their performance. With 20 years’ experience in the education and skills sector, she is dedicated and passionate about raising standards in education and the green agenda. Taking her experience beyond the classroom into her role as a Councillor, a Trustee, Chair of Workforce South, and her previous role of Mayor of Gosport. Zoe is motivated to realise the challenges we face in today’s society and economy, with a belief in localism and building communities to enable change and development skills.
Paula Bradly, Group Business Development Director – Brymor Construction
Paula is skilled and experienced construction professional, with over thirty years’ experience in the construction industry, initially as a Quantity Surveyor before moving to business development. Paula concentrates on business development and growth strategies, for both new business generation and client retention. She leads and motivates diverse teams across multiple geographical locations. Her strong organisational, communication and presentation skills result in a high level of customer focus to deliver exceptional levels of service. Paula is highly effective at developing and securing business relationships based on honesty and trust.
