Wellbeing sessions in ancient woodland
BCP Council has helped local business and communities bounce back from the pandemic by tackling its toll on mental health. Surviving Minds Foundation was awarded grant funding from BCP Council’s Additional Restrictions Grant scheme to offer BCP based friends and colleagues free access to their renowned wellbeing sessions and stress reducing activities in ancient woodland near Dorchester including:
- Shinrin Yoku – the practice of wellbeing through being immersed in nature
- Wood-lore and stories of the woods and trees
- Ancient Woodland skills
A brew and a chat by the campfire
Mick Cowles, Director of Surviving Minds Foundation, said “This grant gave us the opportunity to assist the BCP by delivering our renowned wellbeing activity based on the three R’s Relax, Reconnect and Recharge. Our program is proven to deliver both immediate and residual wellbeing for up to a month, adults and children from the BCP area benefitted from visiting our ancient woodland. Learning some ‘old’ forgotten skills and wood-lore, laughing, relaxing, reconnecting with nature, family and friends and colleagues and re-charging whilst immersing themselves in nature.”
There are a small number of free places remaining as part of the grant scheme though this immersive woodland experience will continue to welcome local BCP based staff teams and individuals joining like-minded colleagues throughout the year.
