The first of a new generation of care homes is to be built in Fleet, Hampshire, following the appointment of Midas Construction to deliver the project on behalf of Principle Care Homes.
Heron Manor will be a flagship project for Principle Care Homes, which has been co-founded by Ashish and Nisha Goyal, a brother and sister team both hugely experienced and widely respected within the care sector.
The state-of-the-art facility on Reading Road North will see the creation of a 60-bedroom care home which will provide residential and dementia care and include features such as a physiotherapy suite, exercise studio and hydrotherapy pool.
Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, is carrying out preparatory works in readiness for a start on site, which will begin with the commencement of the groundworks and piling works.
The new building will allow the development of the best in facilities, layout and residents’ accommodation. Whilst modern in concept, it has been carefully designed by DWA Architects to respect the North Fleet Conservation Area.
There will be 18 bedrooms at ground floor level, 21 bedrooms at first floor level and 21 bedrooms at second floor level. In addition, the care home will provide residential, nursing and dementia care and other facilities such as dayrooms, dining rooms, bistro, cinema and a hair salon.
Steve Lee, Director of Midas Construction’s Southampton-based Southern Division, said: “We are very pleased to be entrusted to deliver this inaugural scheme for Principle Care Homes and to be building a facility which will meet the needs of people in the Fleet area for many years to come.”
Heron Manor is scheduled to open in spring 2023 and is one of two projects currently being brought forward by Principle Care Homes as it looks to become an established operator in the care sector, with the second due to be built in Chelmsford, Essex.
Principle is also looking to redefine what it means to work in social care. They have committed to pay the real Living Wage and, amongst other initiatives being established, they’ll provide their team with meals as well as a complimentary uniform laundry service.
Ashish explains: “It seems obvious to say we’ll focus on the care and our team – a given for most operators. But for us, getting those two elements right is key to providing safe and happy homes for our future residents.
“At Principle, we’re focussed on creating homes where everybody; team, residents and their loved ones, feels truly special.”
Midas has a growing reputation in the care sector, working on behalf of both private operators and local authorities. In the last five years this has seen the completion of 15 projects, with a combined value in excess of £100 million and providing 627 bed spaces.
