The Maritime & Transport Action Group (MTAG) met to review progress on its key initiatives and set strategic priorities for the coming months. Discussions highlighted the continued growth of MTCP outreach, which has supported over 40 schools this year, with demand expanding into Dorset and Brighton. Preparations are underway for the Careers Day on 20 November 2025, expected to host hundreds of students with interactive employer stands, networking opportunities, and sessions for post-16 learners and adults.
MTCP communications and engagement were a key focus, with promotional efforts driving record website traffic and video content performing particularly well. Members were encouraged to actively share content and showcase workforce diversity to amplify the programme’s reach and impact.
Strategic discussions also explored opportunities for the group to influence local government and mayoral candidates, reinforcing the importance of a coordinated industry voice. Key priorities included skills development, integrated transport, and infrastructure planning, alongside the establishment of a targeted HR policy focus group to address upcoming Employment Rights Bill and support collective lobbying efforts.
The meeting concluded with clear next steps for members, including contributions to Careers Day, devolution priorities, and ongoing political engagement. MTAG reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration, advocacy, and workforce development as central to driving impact across the maritime and transport sectors.
