The new chair of the Business South Action Group, Workforce South, says a collaborative approach towards the economic recovery in the Central South region is needed, with an emphasis on building back a strong workforce.
Currently The Head of Saints Learning – the learning and development business of Southampton Football club – Zoe Huggins is also Mayor of Gosport and Chair of a Local Governing board.
Reacting to her latest appointment, Zoe said: “ It is great to have been asked to take up the role and work alongside so many fantastic businesses and people. Our workforce’s health and development is going to be so integral to our recovery and this action group can be pioneering in driving change for the better.”
With all efforts intent on driving recovery in the Central South following the pandemic, Zoe explained the priorities would be to:
- Support the skills for job agenda through the Educational Business South Champions
- Gain insight into the fallout of furlough and bringing a workforce back.
- Promote the good news stories and encourage new initiatives around a healthy, happy, and mindful workforce.
- Back an integrated sustainable development plan for the Central South
- Encourage and celebrate an equal, flexible, and diverse workforce
Zoe added: “ The biggest challenge is getting through the pandemic, the likes of which we have not faced in generations, which must be driven through prosperity ; economic, workforce and communities.
“We face ever increasing levels of exponential change in the future as well as short term uncertainty due to the pandemic and action and impact matter – Action in human capital can create the momentum needed to recover. The Champions are pivotal in creating this momentum, supporting and guiding and celebrating good practice.”
