Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new grant scheme for local businesses in response to the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The Government has announced an additional £1 billion in support of businesses, in recognition that the rise of the Omicron variant before Christmas has left many struggling.
The ‘Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant’ is now available to help support Fareham-based hospitality, leisure, and accommodation businesses with a one-off grant of between £2,667 to £6,000, based on the Rateable Value of their business.
To be eligible to apply, applicants must:
- Have been trading on 30 December 2021
- Be the liable party for business rates on 30 December 2021
- Offer in-person services within the required sectors
- Have at least 50% of business activity within the hospitality, leisure or accommodation sectors
Eligible businesses must complete an online application form by Wednesday 16 February 2022. Further information and details on how to apply can be found on the Council’s website:

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said:
“The latest variant of COVID-19 and the resulting wave of restrictions have had a significant impact on local businesses which were already suffering under the pressure of recent years. These grants are for businesses in the hospitality, leisure, and accommodation sectors to ease some of that pressure and I would urge companies to take advantage of this grant if they are eligible.
“I would also urge businesses that are not eligible for this grant to complete an expression of interest form, also available on our website, so that we can contact you as other grants are announced.”
Details of this and all other grant schemes still available can be found on the Council’s website: www.fareham.gov.uk/business/business_rates/grants.aspx.
