| New Forest District Council (NFDC) will formally re-sign the Armed Forces Covenant on 10 November 2025 to reaffirm its commitment to supporting local people who are serving, have served, or are families of those who served in the armed forces. |
| The event will be attended by veterans who are council staff, local councillors, and representatives from the Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise that members of the Armed Forces community and their families should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and public services they rely on. Signing or re-signing the covenant shows the council’s continued commitment to ensuring that veterans and service families have equal access to services. Cllr John Sleep, NFDC Chairman, said, “Signing the covenant is a simple but powerful way for our council to recognise the sacrifices of people who have served and to commit to practical support in areas such as employment, housing and advice.” Cllr Alvin Reid, Armed Forces Champion, said, “We are proud that the council can play a role in making transition into everyday lives easier, and that some of our own staff are veterans.” |
