Collaboration
This event is proudly sponsored by Blake Morgan, a full-service law firm with a strong commitment to supporting local communities and businesses. Their generous support enables us to bring together hospitality professionals from across Hampshire, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and career development within the sector. We’re grateful for their partnership in helping us strengthen and grow the hospitality network.
Why Attend?
This event is part of a collaborative initiative led by South Hampshire College Group, Food Allergy Aware, and forward-thinking hospitality businesses. It’s your opportunity to:
- Connect with like-minded professionals across the sector
- Share insights, best practices, and referrals
Focus Areas for the Opening Session
As part of our upcoming session, we’re pleased to welcome experts who will shed light on critical legal and regulatory developments impacting the hospitality sector. Representatives from Blake Morgan, specialists in regulatory and employment law, will provide an overview of the Employment Rights Bill, introduced in October 2024. This legislation aims to modernize employment rights and includes significant changes to zero-hours contracts. Did you know – Employers will be required to offer guaranteed hours to workers who have regularly worked over a defined reference period, typically 12 weeks. Additionally, the bill mandates reasonable notice for shift scheduling and compensation for short-notice cancellations, ensuring greater job security and predictability for workers
We’ll also hear from Caroline Benjamin of Food Allergy Aware, who will discuss the latest FSA guidance on allergen management, including developments related to Owen’s Law. This law advocates for clearer allergen information on menus, and Caroline will provide insights into how these changes may impact day-to-day operations and staff training in food service settings.
Future session will cover hot topics such as:
-
- Skills Pipeline & Upskilling Support from the SHCG
- Regulatory changes
- Digital Innovation & Tech in Hospitality
- Food Safety and Training
- Promoting Hospitality as a sustainable career
- Allergen Management
We are open to suggestions if you have other topics which you would like covered.
