A panel of top businesspeople has been recruited by the University of Winchester to ensure the curriculum is relevant and connected to the real world of work.
The Business Digital Technologies (BDT) Employer Advisory Board held its first meeting at the University Business School on 16 September 2025.
The board has been formed to help the University’s Faculty of Business and Digital Technologies to develop courses that respond to local skills needs and give students a head start in the world of work.
Bill Davies, Acting Dean of the BDT faculty, said: “The board members represent a fantastic pool of talent and experience which the University can draw on.
“Their expert input will ensure our BDT courses remain in step with needs of business which in turn will enhance our students’ learning experience and improve their employment prospects.
“It is also heartening to see a number of alumni joining the board to help develop future generations of business leaders.”
It is made up of a diverse group of senior executives, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, alumni, and other stakeholders with wide expertise in and experience of commerce and industry.
In addition to offering insights on trends and issues in business, board members will help forge links with businesses with a view to offering opportunities for internships, research partnerships, and guest lectures.
Board members include senior colleagues from a range of national and global businesses in a range of sectors. They also include a number of alumni of the University who have gone on to executive roles after completing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, including the Executive MBA, at the University of Winchester.
Lauren Bolter-Booth, Marketing Manager at Winchester Cathedral, is a Winchester alumna who studied for a BA Hons Business Management with Marketing (2013-16) and an MSc – Marketing Innovation (2016-17). Lauren said she was excited to join the board.
“As an alumna of the University of Winchester, joining the Employer Advisory Board is especially meaningful to me. I’ve remained closely connected to the university since graduating, and it’s clear that the leadership genuinely prioritises the student experience — not just during their studies, but well beyond graduation,” said Lauren.
“It’s an honour to contribute to a board dedicated to supporting students as they take their next steps into the world of work. Our first meeting was full of creativity and energy, and I’m excited to help turn those ideas into real opportunities and meaningful experiences for students.”
