Business South, an independent representative of businesses in the Central South, has become the latest organisation to co-sign Southampton Solent’s Civic Charter. The organisation supports the region’s prosperity by bringing together business leaders, educators, public bodies and entrepreneurs to create a dominant and powerful force for growth and innovation.
Southampton Solent and Business South have a strong track record in working together; developing a series of initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for our student community and the region’s economic growth and development. Projects include the co-production of the Bizz Buzz podcast and delivery of the Future Leaders Dinner concept.
The signing comes at a key milestone, with both organisations celebrating their 20th anniversary. Through becoming a signatory of the Charter Business South and Southampton Solent commit to further collaborate in enabling regional growth and prosperity.
On why Business South is an important signatory, James Knowles, Vice-Chancellor comments:
“Business South is a vital partner as we work to drive growth across our region. Their expertise and influential position align perfectly with our own ambitions for the University. “Solent’s place at the heart of Southampton reflects the commitment we have to positively shaping the future of our city and region. It is exciting to see partners, such as Business South, demonstrating this shared commitment by signing our Civic Charter.”
As we look ahead to 2026 Southampton Solent will further strengthen its collaboration with industry in line with regional and national growth plans.
