Fareham Borough Council has produced a magazine entitled ‘Fareham’s Greener Future’ which sets out the considerable work that has been put into Fareham’s environment in recent years and some of the achievements the Council has made.
Fareham’s Greener Future highlights the Council’s effort to preserve and improve Fareham’s lived-in environment. Whether that be the management and upkeep of its many green and open spaces, the preservation and expansion of wildlife habitats, or the way in which the Council goes about building and improving its housing. Fareham’s Greener Future has been considered by the Council’s Executive and it has agreed that the next step is to create a formal Environment Strategy which will guide the Council in all future decision making to continue to protect and enhance the Borough’s environments for future generations. Work on this strategy will commence immediately, for publication later this year.
Executive Member for Planning and Development, Councillor Simon Martin, said: “Improving our environment is something that Fareham Borough Council takes very seriously. After all, the vast majority of our staff are also residents of Fareham and want it to be the best that it can be. We have already committed to becoming carbon neutral across all our buildings and services by 2030, but ‘environment’ incorporates so much more than carbon reduction. This magazine shines a light on the work that we are doing, behind the scenes, to ensure that Fareham is a place we can all be proud of both today and long into the future.”
