People living with cancer need Maggie’s support now more than ever – which is why the cancer support charity is calling on everyone to take part in the 2.6 Challenge.
With many people with cancer self-isolating and facing changes or delays to treatment, the professional support offered by Maggie’s Southampton by phone, email or online is needed even more than before to help those with cancer through this challenging time.
To help them do this during this health crisis, Maggie’s is calling on supporters to take part in the 2.6 Challenge to raise funds by creating any kind of challenge they like round the number 2.6 – do 260 sun salutations, make 26 cakes or run 260 miles on your treadmill.

We need your help to support people like Robin, who has been supported by Maggie’s staff by phone as they have struggled with increased stress and anxiety.
Robin said: “My immune system is suppressed due to the chemotherapy drug I’m on, so I’ve already been self-isolating for a number of weeks. Having a phone-line to Maggie’s is a lifeline.”
Maggie’s Southampton Centre Fundraising Manager Gemma McKnight said: “We are so grateful to anyone who takes on the 2.6 Challenge for Maggie’s. People with cancer are having a particularly difficult time just now and need our professional support now more than ever – I can’t wait to see all the photos of the incredible challenges on social media.”
Since Maggie’s opened its first centre in 1996, the charity has developed a programme of support that is proven to help people with cancer and their loved ones take back control.
Maggie’s Southampton will in the grounds of Southampton General University relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to be able to offer this high quality, professional support once open, supporting the 2.6 challenge brings us one step closer to opening out doors.
