This summer, Southampton Hospitals Charity is launching a large-scale public art event where 40 magnificent 8ft, colourful lighthouse sculptures will be on display through the streets and public spaces of Southampton and Cowes. The trail is expected to receive over 250,000 visitors, seeing an estimated £5million economic impact to the region.
By hosting the trail, Southampton Hospitals Charity aims to bring businesses and communities together, champion health and wellbeing, as well as creating an educational programme for schools, and helping to boost the regional economy by driving additional footfall to Southampton and Cowes.
Southampton Hospitals Charity have also partnered with Southampton International Boat Show and at the end of the trail, all 40 lighthouses will be displayed together for the first time. This will culminate in an auction on the 20th September, where winning bids will help to raise vital funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital – one of the top three paediatric centres in the country. Treating 165,000 children each year and renowned for expertise in cardio, cancer, neuro, trauma and intensive care, Southampton Children’s Hospital is an incredibly special and unique place.
