Michael Aston has taken up his post as Chief Executive Officer of the University of Southampton Science Park, opening a new chapter for the Central South’s home of innovation. Mr Aston began in the role on 1 July 2026, succeeding Dr Robin Chave, who retires after seven years in the role.
Mr Aston joins at a pivotal moment for Southampton Science Park which was recently crowned South Coast Property Business of the Year. His appointment underlines the Park’s ambition to build on its status as the region’s preeminent hub for science, technology and digital businesses.
Michael Aston, Chief Executive Officer, said: “It is a privilege to be leading Southampton Science Park as it enters its next phase. The Science Park is a special place – positioned at the intersection of academic research and serial entrepreneurship and with a mix of start-ups and blue-chip companies. It’s an extraordinarily powerful proposition that sparks exciting opportunities.
“Robin Chave leaves the Park in excellent shape, and my focus now is on building on that strength. I expect to work closely with the University of Southampton and wider innovation networks so that ideas born from world-class research can grow into companies that make a positive impact both regionally and globally.”
With construction of Infinity Labs – a flagship new facility for cutting-edge research and development – well under way, attracting and welcoming the building’s first tenants are among his immediate priorities.

His wide-ranging experience, track record of delivering major capital projects, and deep understanding of the sciences make him an excellent fit with the Park’s ambitions and values.
