Our recent People South Mock Tribunal event, held at Kimbridge Barn and delivered in collaboration with Business South, 3PB Barristers, ViewHR, and Bond Williams, provided an insightful and engaging demonstration of an employment tribunal in action.
The case centred on the constructive unfair dismissal of a claimant from their role as an estate agent, on the grounds of sexual discrimination and victimisation.
A huge thank you to our volunteer witnesses – Rachel Darke (Kier), Darren Tibble (Dutton Gregory), and Andrew White (Ward Williams Associates) – for portraying their roles so convincingly.
Audience engagement was a key highlight, with Amanda Alner (Protect Line) and Maggie Watkins (AIB International) joining Katherine Anderson (3PB Barristers) on the panel. The session featured active questioning from the wider audience (extended panel), live polls, and a Q&A session, creating a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
The mock trial emphasised the critical importance of regular, relevant, and up-to-date DE&I training in the workplace, both proactive and reactive, to help prevent real-life tribunal claims.
A special thank you to Katherine Anderson, Grace Nicholls, and Colin McDevitt from 3PB Barristers for leading the session, and to Heidi Roper and Paul Burton from ViewHR for organising such a well-structured and well-received event. We’ve had excellent feedback from attendees.
