The Regenerate South Action Group has taken a decisive step toward influence the unlocking of stalled development sites across the region by establishing a Taskforce Group. The group will focus on identifying why projects have stalled and how best to unlock their potential to drive economic growth – shifting from discussion to delivery-focused action.
Regenerate South Chair, Gavin Hall, hosted the meeting at Savills’ Central South office, bringing together Business South champions to strategise action. The objective is clear: to identify barriers, prioritise opportunities, and accelerate progress on sites that have failed to move forward.
We are proud to announce that Cat White, Director of Planning at Turley, will lead the Taskforce Group.
Operating alongside Regenerate South, Cat and the Taskforce members will report back to future Regenerate South meetings on progress and delivery. The immediate focus is on prioritising “quick wins” and high-impact schemes that can unlock visible economic and place-making benefits, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, positive messaging, and an evidence-led approach.
Whilst each project has its own reasons for stalling, the group aims to identify common challenges in order to prioritise and target action effectively.
The next phase of work will centre on building a shared site tracker, gathering insight from developers and planners, and developing a clear, evidence-based approach to inform action.
This initiative marks an important shift in approach—reframing the conversation from “stalled sites” to “unlocking delivery” and enabling growth across the South.
