Business South has launched its newest Action Group, focused on Leisure & Wellbeing across the Central South, with the aim of encouraging a more active and healthier workplace culture across the Central South. The initial scoping meeting brought together both private and public sector champions from across the region to discuss its aims, KPIs and ideas for improving the physical and mental wellbeing of the workforce.
The group will be chaired by Chris Rees Director and Founder of ReesLeisure, who said during the meeting that the group aims to “bring together businesses, councils and wellbeing providers to showcase what’s already available and help create healthier, happier workplaces across the region.”
Discussions centred around the growing importance of flexibility in the modern workplace, highlighting how activity, movement and wellbeing support can improve productivity, engagement and overall staff wellbeing. Ideas ranged from workplace Pilates and run clubs to active networking events, nutrition workshops and mental wellbeing support.
A key proposal from the meeting was the creation of a network of “Health Champions” within businesses. These champions would help share wellbeing opportunities internally with their teams, encourage participation and connect organisations with local leisure and wellbeing providers.
