| New Forest District Council’s (NFDC) Cabinet has approved a new 4 year strategy to strengthen services for council tenants, improve customer experience, and ensure people continue to live in safe, well-managed homes and neighbourhoods. |
| At their meeting on 5 August 2026, NFDC’s Cabinet approved a new ‘Housing Landlord Tenancy Management Strategy’, which sets out how they will place greater focus on listening to tenants, using feedback to improve services, and providing more consistent support across its 5,200 council homes.
Produced with, and approved by, tenants, the new approach will enable greater neighbourhood visibility, increased tenant engagement, improved digital services, and a continued focus on tenancy sustainment, community safety, and maintaining high housing standards. Cllr Steve Davies, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Homelessness, said: “This strategy places tenants at the heart of everything we do. It sets out how we will continue to listen to tenants, use their feedback to improve services, and provide safe, secure homes in well-managed neighbourhoods. And it recognises the importance of supporting our staff so they can deliver consistent, high-quality services for tenants. “As local government reorganisation progresses, it is important that we have a clear and lasting approach to supporting our tenants. This strategy will help create a strong legacy for council housing services in the district, ensuring that the improvements we make now are sustained through the transition to future unitary councils and beyond “We have already achieved a great deal, but this strategy will help us keep improving and respond to the changing needs of our tenants.” NFDC will review progress regularly to ensure the strategy remains responsive to tenant needs and delivers positive outcomes for residents and communities across the district |
