Fareham Borough Council supports various community groups, projects and good causes around the Borough through its Community Fund.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for not-for-profit organisations to buy new equipment, deliver building improvements or for useful and sustainable projects that will benefit a large number of Fareham residents. In the last six months the Community Fund has granted:
- £1,000 to the Portchester Volunteer Marching Band for the purchase of new instruments
- £3,223 to Talisman Bowmen for the supply of beginners’ archery equipment
- £389 to Bee-Released Counselling CIC for the provision of a laptop for affordable and accessible online counselling
- £1,968 to Lockswood Community and Sports Association to purchase a digital clock for the sports hall of Lockswood Community Centre.
To qualify for a Community Fund grant, organisations must be based in the Borough, and projects must benefit the local people of Fareham.
Councillor Frair Burgess, Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, said: “Fareham has a very active community that is dedicated to helping us make this area an even better place to live. The Council sets aside money every year to help community groups support local people and get their projects off the ground. I am really pleased that we have been able to use the funding to help these four very worthy causes in the last six months.”
