This summer, Marwell Zoo is launching Vote Wild, a fun and engaging initiative that gives visitors and supporters a say in how funds are invested across the zoo. From animal care and veterinary expertise to plants, landscapes and habitats, Vote Wild celebrates the teams who help Marwell Zoo – and the animals in our care – thrive every day.
Inspired by the much-loved TV programme Dragons’ Den, teams from across Marwell, will present practical, impactful projects and/or equipment that would make a real difference to the animals and habitats they support. The teams will share their ideas, explaining what they need, how it will be used, and why it matters.
Members, visitors and supporters will vote for the project they believe most deserves investment which they can do in several different ways;
- Vote in‑zoo by picking up a token and placing it into the project box they want to support
- Donate online to their chosen team via dedicated project donation pages
- Engage online by watching pitch videos, liking and sharing content and encouraging others to get involved.
Every vote helps to decide which team will receive the prize fund – a pot of around £5,000 to help bring their project to life.
The Opportunity
We are seeking support from our valued suppliers and partners to create a prize fund of approximately £5,000, which will be awarded to the winning team.
By contributing to the prize fund, you will:
- Directly support animal welfare and care at Marwell Zoo
- Help bring a staff‑led, high‑impact project to life
- Be part of a high‑profile summer campaign with strong public engagement
Sponsor Recognition
Prize fund supporters will be:
- Acknowledged in campaign communications (where appropriate) throughout the summer, including within the zoo and online.
- Recognised on Marwell’s website and/or social media
- Associated with a positive, transparent initiative that puts animal care at its heart
Why it matters
Every project presented is being developed by the teams who know Marwell best – whether that’s caring for animals, supporting their health and wellbeing, or creating and maintaining the habitats they live in.
Your support helps empower staff, improve welfare outcomes, and demonstrate the vital role that responsible zoos play in conservation and education.
If you would like to pledge or discuss supporting the prize fund, please contact the Marwell Wildlife fundraising team.
