New Forest District Council’s (NFDC) housing service has been shortlisted for two national awards recognising excellence in resident safety and compliance.
NFDC has been shortlisted for the Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) Safety and Compliance Team of the Year award, and Service Manager for Housing Maintenance Programmes and Servicing, Sophie Tuffin, has been shortlisted for the Woman in Safety and Compliance Award.
The ASCP awards celebrate outstanding achievement across the housing sector, recognising organisations and individuals who are helping to keep residents safe through innovation, leadership and high standards of compliance.
The team award shortlist recognises NFDC’s work to transform housing compliance and safety services for more than 5,000 council homes. Over the past 18 months, the service has brought together multiple functions into a single approach focused on resident safety and continuous improvement.
Councillor Steve Davies, portfolio holder for housing and homelessness, said:
“This national recognition is a testament to the dedication, professionalism and expertise of our housing teams.
“Keeping residents safe in their homes is one of our most important responsibilities and these shortlists demonstrate the high standards our officers deliver every day.
“Housing at New Forest District Council is highly regarded, and Sophie leads the team that helps to keep us to a high standard. I am particularly pleased to see the wider team also recognised. Their commitment helps ensure that our tenants can have confidence in the quality and safety of their homes.”
Sophie’s nomination recognises her leadership in driving transformation and embedding a culture across the team focused on safety, accountability and delivering the best possible outcomes for tenants.
Sophie said:
“Everything we do is focused on ensuring our tenants live in safe, well-maintained homes and receive a high-quality service. Being shortlisted in both categories is a fantastic reflection of the progress we have made together and our continued commitment to putting resident safety first.
”While I am incredibly proud to be recognised individually, the team nomination reflects the hard work, commitment and expertise of colleagues across our housing maintenance and compliance teams.”
The winners will be announced at the ASCP awards later this year.
