On Monday 22 June 2026 Cllr Dave Penny, the Chairman of New Forest District Council (NFDC) raised the Armed Forces Day flag at Appletree Court in Lyndhurst.
The Chairman was joined by Major Alex Howes, representatives from 17 Port and Maritime Regiment, NFDC VIce Chairman Cllr Barry Rickman, Leader Cllr Jill Cleary, Cllr Alvin Reid, NFDC Deputy Chief Executive Richard Knott, and council staff who are veterans of the Armed Forces.
The flag will fly at Appletree Court until the end of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June.

Last year, New Forest District Council re-signed The Armed Forces Covenant; a promise to those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, that they are treated fairly.
