Staff from New Forest District Council’s (NFDC) Tenant Engagement and Housing teams held a community-focused outreach event in Totton on Friday (29 May 2026) as part of ongoing work to support residents with housing advice and tenancy support, and for families to enjoy some activities.
The event formed part of a wider programme of community days delivered across the district, bringing council services directly into local communities to provide accessible, face-to-face support.
The event provided advice from NFDC’s housing services and community partners, there were activities for children, and small repairs for housing tenants.
Cllr Steve Davies, Portfolio Holder for Housing, attended the event and met staff and residents to see first-hand the range of support being offered.
Cllr Davies, said:
“Attending this event reminded me of the huge value of meeting with tenants and residents. It’s so important we bring services directly into local communities and make it easier for our tenants to access advice and support. And by meeting people in their own communities, we can provide earlier help and better targeted advice.”
Community days are part of NFDC’s wider housing and community engagement work. Events are delivered in partnership with different organisations, on a location by location basis, such as CAB, and Step Up Safe Space, who offer essentials like school uniform and clothes.
The next event is at the Nedderman Centre, New Milton on Saturday 25 July. https://www.newforest.gov.uk/tenantengagement#h22
